Because it did not seem like enough to just not shop today, instead I went to Union Square for the "Dance Your Debt Away" Dance Party with Reverend Billy and the Stop Shopping Choir. Rev. Billy exercised the shopping demons at Starbucks and Barnes & Noble, we danced in a conga line around the Square. The band played and the choir sang.
And a couple hundred people didn't buy a single thing.

I can't believe you did that! How totally cool! I'm jealous though at least I didn't buy a thing yesterday.
It was so much fun, I wish there was a whole month of Buy Nothing Days. I may have to join the Church of Stop Shopping.
Permapoesis: meaning-making through active participation with one's local community-ecology.
or, as michael pollan now says: don't buy any food that is advertised, as it's likely to be highly processed and toxic. in other words don't get your food from supermarkets.
this can also be extended to: don't buy anything advertised at all, and the chances are you won't have maimed, poisoned, bombed, or stolen anything from other humans or non-humans.
grow it locally and tend to our ecologies! yippeee!
